Our village

Mickleton is located in the most northerly conservation area of the Cotswold District within the cusp of three shire counties. The village lies within the flat countryside of the Vale of Evesham and the limestone escarpment of the Cotswolds and has characteristics of both areas. Mickleton is not a typical "chocolate box" Cotswold village but a mixture of architectural styles from red brick buildings, Cotswold stone, black and white half timbered and modern housing developments.

Until the 1960’s, the village had hardly changed for at least 400 years.  Since the 1960’s, estates have been built extending the village shape into that of a dumbbell.  The population numbers around 2,000, with about 1200 dwellings. Many of the homes here are owned by villagers who have retired to this place but there is a core of families who were born and bred here, and who have roots going back many generations.

It’s a great place to live and stay. We have high quality facilities for tourists, and attractive buildings and countryside. It is a ‘live’ village, where residents can, if they choose, purchase all their weekly needs in the local shops.  However, it never feels as if there are too many tourists, yet up to 23,000 visit the Three Ways Hotel each year.
