Lloyd's Bank on High Street
Mickleton Community Archive
This photograph is taken from a newspaper report on a bank raid here at 11.55am on Monday March 6th 1995 when two masked and armed men held customers at gun point. Two of the three customers inside the bank at the time were local men; 90 year old Ernest Godman and 69 year old Allen Kitchen. The robbers got away in a stolen blue transit van that they had parked in Church Lane during the robbery. It was later found abandoned in Broad Marston Lane.
The bank had been robbed before; in 1988 and again in 1992 when £5,000 had been taken. It closed for good a few months after this last robbery. It is now a private house called The Old Bank.
