World Refugee Year was a UNHCR initiative to help resolve the refugee problem. It started in June 1959 so presumably this photo was taken just after.
Play sessions were organised by the Mickleton Community Archive and run by Gloucestershire Play Rangers. They were held in the King's Arms gardens.

There were many children among the villagers who gathered opposite the King's Arms, outside Elder Villa, to see the North Cotswold Hunt set off from Mickleton in 1936.
The Village Hall has always been used for dances. This one is a school disco. Note that the stage is still in place and the lines for badminton are marked on the wooden floor. On the photo are Fred Byrd, Lesley Smith, Jo Tudor and Paul Hopkins
