Chimney sweep, Joe Yates shakes hands with the bride, [Beryl] Natalie Brain, following her wedding to Francis E. Smith in St. Lawrence's Church between July and September 1958. This [or a kiss!] was supposed to bring good luck to the newlyweds.
The index to the original W.I. slide collection identified the woman standing at the gate on the right of the photograph as Mrs Brain.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of V.E.Day. Against the wall/window are Duncan Rose, Wally Brain and Les Devereux. In front are Rene Simmons, Freda Baldwyn, Gay Rochfort, Margaret Devereux, Beatrice Kitchen, Allen Kitchen, Jean Folks, Mrs. Bird.
The horses' names were Captain and Jerry. Jerry was a war horse. Wally and his horses worked at Cherry Orchard and Long Hill Farm.
