King George's Hall Major Development 2004

The hall went through a major refurbishment in 2003/04. The main hall was virtually rebuilt. A new entrance lobby, toilet block and coffee lounge were added to the existing building.

In the main hall a new gas fired central heating system replaced the inefficient oil fired system, and it was complete re-wired throughout, with a suspended ceiling to improve sound and energy efficiency.

The old stage was removed, and the floor area extended to allow sufficient space for two indoor bowls mats. It was also resurfaced.  Stage blocks allow a temporary stage to be erected, for concerts and shows.

The coffee lounge has been regularly used for meetings as well as coffee mornings for village residents. A newly refurbished kitchen allowed space for caterers or societies to prepare food.

With its own large electric screen, audio visual equipment, the hall has become the home of the rural cinema which is shown once a month.
