On the reverse has been written: Cirencester Club Parade. Campden Band. Church Service. (Lent by Mrs J. Bennett) Mill Lane would have been called Mill Bank at that time. Club Day: procession with banner Photograph was taken outside the Butcher's Arms at Whitsun. The man carrying the banner on the right hand side was identified in the index to the slide collection as Mr Righton, grandfather of W.I. member, Freda Struthers. This probably refers to the sports that took place on Club Day. This was an annual event until 1939. Held on Whit Saturday. Picnic Sadly, we have no idea of when or where this photograph was taken but decided it was too interesting to delete! It may have been a Club Day event. It is part of the W.I. collection. Pig Roast Or is it an ox? Date unknown. Possibly taken at a Club Day event or fete. Roundabouts at Club Day Club Day tea party The man, second from left, was identified by the W.I. as Mr Joseph Webb. Mickleton Club Day The Club Day banner is held aloft at the front of a procession around the village. Here it is moving along the High Street, just passing Mill Lane and Elder Villa. It was the last time the Club banner was paraded through the village. Here, it is just passing Elder Villa at the junction of Mill Bank [Lane] and the High Street.
