Womens Institute Rummage Sale 1967

A Sale to raise funds for the W.I. was held in King George’s Hall in October 1967. The sale raised c.£50. The first photo shows people queuing outside waiting for the doors to open at 2.30pm. Apparently the interest in rummage was ‘no longer the money spinner it used to be’.
Mrs W Stanley was doorkeeper and organised competitions. There were a variety of stallholders including: Mrs R.G. Payne, Mrs Darvill and Mrs D.s. Hutchinson (new goods), Mrs A.S. Kitchen ( wheel of fortune), Mrs Vandermin and Mrs D.F. Taylor ( cakes), Mrs W.J. Coldicott and Mrs E Swift ( children’s items).
