‘At one time there was an old stone barn that at the entrance to Johnny Hoggins’ plum orchard. It was opposite the old tennis courts in Barley Orchard (the field behind the church) and was called Kennel Barn. You could nearly always disturb a Barn Owl whenever you went inside the barn.
