Mr Franklin farmed at Beggar's Barn and Church Piece from 1946 - 1992. The land lay at the top of Canada Lane and although some arable crops were grown, most was used for rearing livestock.

A rare surviving example of the villages's ridge and furrow fields, Twelve Acres is situated on the corner of High Street and Stratford Road. Many village celebrations have been held there over the years.
Geoffrey Franklin farmed at Beggar's Barn and Church Piece from 1946-1992. The cattle were all beef cattle, not dairy. One of the fields on the farm had the distinction of being the last field at this end of Gloucestershire.
