The First Parish Magazines
Three cloth bound volumes, each containing 12 months worth of parish magazines, covering the years 1913, 1914 and 1915. The magazines are copies of ‘The Dawn of Day, a monthly magazine published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (S.P.C.K.) with items of news specific to Mickleton confined to a single page inserted inside the front cover. Sadly, a few items have been carefully removed by someone in the past. The covers, blue/grey in colour, feature an image of the south side of the church.
The cost of the magazines was 1/- (5p) per year and, after receiving the first copy, approx. 100 villagers subscribed.
These volumes are held in storage.
