The lorry was the first one purchased by Hillside Nursery to take the produce to Coventry market.
Mr Webb established his successful market gardening business in the village in 1896.

The orchard was on land opposite the council houses on Granbrook Lane where, later, new houses and then Meon Road, were built. The footpath that Marian is standing on led through to Canada Lane and up to Beggar's Barn where the Franklin family farmed.

This certificate, dated 1915, shows that Joseph Webb, Snr was the holder of the first five shares in the Mickleton and District Farmers and Market Gardeners' Co-Operative Association, Ltd. We haven't been able to find any information about this organisation so please contact us if you can add more.

Workers at Hillside Nurseries ( located off the Stratford Road) pea picking 1920s. The nursery grew mainly tomatoes and cucumbers but also other vegetables. The market was set up in the 1800s and sold after World War II.
