The photo shows Bill Brain, who worked at Hillside Nurseries, Rose Brain and their daughter Annie. They lived opposite the blacksmiths ( butchers) at Rose Cottage.
The Village celebrated the Jubilee 1935 with a bonfire on Meon Hill and later everyone went to Slatter's for plum jerk and cider. The photo shows the bonfire being built. Left to Right: Ernest Chadbund Scout Master, Jonnie Hodgkins and 2 other local boys.
